Madeira Tecnopolo promotes Good Practices Seminar in Romania

 

 

Within the scope of TOUREG Project, promoted by FP7, Madeira Tecnopolo organizes the second seminar with international nature. The first was held at Lisbon on January 2009 with the support of the Regional Secretary of Tourism and Transports, and now the second will happen at Baile Herculane, Romania. Baile Herculane is situated at Mehedinti, a Romanian province which is also a partner in the TOUREG Project. The objective is to carry there, examples of good practices and case studies which may lead to an exchange of knowledge.

 

Six European regions participate in the Project: Balearic islands, Crete, Mehedinti, South West, Norrbotten and Madeira, which reflect six different realities.

 

The Project aims at creating clusters of research, knowledge and competitiveness in the tourism sector. In short, TOUREG should present, in the end, improvements in competitiveness and strategic position of the services sector, especially those focused on tourism through the creation and development of a a platform to generate and transmit knowledge based on technological innovation and research in that domain.

MHCI senior pupils’ projects presentation

 

 

 

Master in Human Computer Interaction – MHCH of the University of Madeira and Carnegie Mellon University, includes in its program the full-year subject Capstone Project, purpose of which being to apply in practice everything the students should have leant along the course. This subject conducts students to work in multi-disciplinary teams supported by the patronage of a Company. This aims at producing a prototype of a new service or product.

 

The works, which are final today, were elaborated by teams of students coming from areas such as Computer Engineering , Psychology, Design, among others, fact that contributes to the multi-disciplinary character of those teams. The patronizing Companies are: SAPO, Critical Software and Promosoft. The projects include solutions for institutions of micro-financing in Africa, solutions for mobile phoning services, and innovative web solutions for children. Presentations will be oral, poster-supported and demonstration sessions.
